I've discovered a new-found love for succulents! The perfect low maintenance indoor house plant.
Succulents grow in bright light - or partial shade. They're quite versatile and can live without water for up to 3-4 weeks, since they store water in their leaves.
These are my 3 succulents which I purchased from IKEA. The white pots are also from IKEA, and the white gravel from Dollar Tree.
This succulent is called a Sempervivum, also referred to as "Hens and Chicks". Reason being their ability to grow multiple "baby rosettes". The bigger part of the plant acts as the mother, small part the chick.
I think these look amazing on my window sill as home decor pieces.
You may be wondering what the random rock/stone is doing in the pots. My idea is to have these as reminders to check the soil, to see whether its moist or dry. You can also stick a long skinny stick in the soil and it if feels cool (cold in temperature), the soil is fine. If not, they may need some watering.
As for this plant, I'm not entirely sure what type of succulent it is. I love the pattern on the leaves with the green and hints of orangy-red. Its beauty is in its weirdness.
I plan to keep blogging about succulents to track their growth. After they adapt to the new cactus soil, I'm going to try propagating them. Wish me luck!
