Purse Talk: Gucci Marmont Mini vs LV Alma BB

Recently, I've been contemplating making a luxury handbag purchase - first time since 2011.

I'm comparing the Gucci Marmont Mini in Black ($1170 CAD) vs the Louis Vuitton Alma BB in "Damier Ebene" ($1520)

Gucci Marmont Mini

LV Alma BB - Damier Ebene

Thoughts on Longevity:
The Alma BB has been around for a few years now, but has become quite popular. Its carefree canvas, options for wear, and impeccable design will definitely help maintain its value over time. I rarely see these for resale on the pre-loved market, therefore one could only assume the majority end up satisfied with purchasing this bag.

I am quite a fan of the Damier Ebene print. It represents the LV brand in a recognizable, yet understated way.

I own the LV Eva Clutch in this canvas too, and I have been using it regularly for the past 5 years as a either an evening bag, or a clutch for going out to dinner or dates. Would it be repetitive to get a mini-bag such as the Alma BB in the same Ebene print?

The Gucci Marmont Matelasse Mini Bag is relatively new in design, with its updated logo. There go the days where the mirrored "G" took precedence in Gucci's Line! *yay*
I feel as though, for the first time in a long while that Gucci has finally hit a homerun with their new creative director - kudos Alessandro Michele, you get a happy face emoji -> ☻

I prefer the embossed "GG" on the back over the heart design on the Gucci Marmont flap bags (to me the heart makes the other bag look cheap, however some say they bought it BECAUSE of the heart). I think the GG logo on the bag adds to the mini's popularity.

Price Thoughts?
Well in Canada, the current difference in the price between the 2 bags - $350 difference
LV being the slightly more expensive one.

Buying one of these would make this my most expensive purchase for a bag to date (prior would be the LV Speedy 25 and the Eva Clutch).

With the Gucci Marmont, it's all leather. But I can only wear it on my shoulder or cross-body.
The LV Alma BB has the top handle, and removable strap option but is simply canvas. *sigh* Decisions decisions.

Thoughts on Styles:
One bag is black with antique-looking gold accents. The other is a timeless checkered brown with gold as well. Both are beautiful, enough said.

What I'm looking for in a bag...
1. Work appropriate, transitions from day to night easily
2. SMALL - enough room to carry a couple SLGs, phone, minimal make-up
3. Carefree, will not show visible signs of wear easily
4. Neutral colour - has to go with everything

Conclusions?
For work, I think the Gucci Marmont is more appropriate because of its square shape, and black leather. For durability, I think the Alma BB has it with the canvas... tough choice.

Succulents! My New Hobby ♥

I've discovered a new-found love for succulents ! The perfect low maintenance indoor house plant. Succulents grow in bright light - or partial shade. They're quite versatile and can live without water for up to 3-4 weeks, since they store water in their leaves. These are my 3 succulents which I purchased from IKEA. The white pots are also from IKEA, and the white gravel from Dollar Tree. This succulent is called a Sempervivum, also referred to as "Hens and Chicks". Reason being their ability to grow multiple "baby rosettes". The bigger part of the plant acts as the mother, small part the chick. I think these look amazing on my window sill as home decor pieces. You may be wondering what the random rock/stone is doing in the pots. My idea is to have these as reminders to check the soil, to see whether its moist or dry. You can also stick a long skinny stick in the soil and it if feels cool (cold in temperature), the soil is fine. If not, they ...
